I don’t wait for special occasions to wear beautiful things. If I did, most of my life would pass me by.
Sometimes I want to go to work simply because I get to wear my fur coat, a statement piece I love, or something beautifully made that usually gets labeled as “too much” for an ordinary day. That might sound shallow if you say it out loud. It isn’t.
In average, everyday life, there aren’t many places to wear beautiful things. I’m not a movie star. I’m not walking red carpets or being photographed outside of restaurants. Most of my life exists in ordinary spaces: work, errands, grocery aisles, school pickups, and lash appointments. If I waited for special occasions, my favorite things would stay in the closet while life moved on without them.
Waiting for special occasions keeps joy on standby.
So I stopped waiting.
Work became the place I got dressed on purpose. The place where a fur coat, a beautiful bag, or a well-made pair of shoes could exist in real life instead of living in my closet. This isn’t to impress anyone, but to remind myself that these pieces are meant to be used, not saved. Besides, it makes work a little less daunting.
I may not be famous, but I am a celebrity in my own world. And celebrities don’t save their lives for later. They show up as themselves, consistently, whether there’s a camera or not. Designer items and statement pieces aren’t costumes. They’re not trophies. They’re objects with intention and craftsmanship. Wearing them in ordinary settings collapses the distance between special and everyday. If I like it, I wear it. Today is reason enough
People think confidence comes from events, from validation, or from being seen on the right stages. But most stages are assigned. Real confidence is grown from within. Running errands dressed well isn’t vanity. It’s deciding I don’t need a milestone, a man, or an audience to justify feeling good in my body and my life.
Most red carpet moments are marketing obligations anyway. Mine are by choice. My red carpet moments happen under office lights and on random Tuesdays because I chose not to treat my life like a waiting room.
I’m not a celebrity to the world.
But I am in mine.
Life is the stage. Work is my red carpet.
